Taking Stock: August 2016.
Caution! Humour Ahead!
I was in the mood for a completely off-the-cuff post today, and what better way to do it than with a word association game called ‘Taking Stock.’
I’ve done these ‘Taking Stock’ posts a couple of times in the past – April 2016 and June 2016 – and they are always a lot of fun. It’s a great way to get creative and share the first thing that pops into my head when I see a particular word.
So here we go again! Taking Stock: August 2016!
Feeling: Happy! It was the second blogiversary for Starbrite Warrior this week so it’s celebration time! Thank goodness for Facebook timeline reminders as I had completely lost track of the days/dates and nearly missed my own event.
Master Horus and I didn’t get around to recording a celebratory video this year so here is a little trip down memory lane….and a great reminder of why working with dogs n’ cake n’ technology n’ flames is really a job for the professionals.
Making: Essential oil roller bottle blends for myself and my friends. Coconut oil drip marks on the countertop, little amber-coloured bottles in various stages of oily goodness completion. More on this another day!
Reading: Be Brilliant Everyday (aff) by Andy Cope and Andy Whittaker. I’m not saying I’m not already brilliant, but there is always room for improvement, ya know? On a serious note, this is a really great book. The concepts presented in the book aren’t anything new, but the Andys’ unusual take on presenting the information, combined with their self-deprecating humour, makes it an extremely entertaining and easy read.
Looking: At a word document full of words. At least it isn’t blank.
Playing: ‘Muse’ on my ‘Tide’ (productivity) app as I attempt to stay focused and start my flow. Ok, I just reread what I wrote and that sounds kind of weird…
Deciding: What books on my wish list that I’m going to turn into actual purchases this coming month. As my Hubby would say: “Bookworm nerd alert, nerd alert!”
Wondering: How to answer this question. Oh wait, looks like I just did!
Loving: Is it too much of a cliché to say I’m loving life? Oh well, it’s true, so I’m going to roll with it.
Watching: Reruns of The Unit and Hawaii 5-0. I’m all caught up on Grey’s Anatomy and waiting for the new season to start. So in the meantime, it’s all about the crash ‘em and bash ‘em action drama!
Hoping: Entertained you with my antics? Moved you with my story? Helped you with humour? Provided support and connection through shared experiences?
If you answered ‘Yes!’ to any of the above – or anything else that comes to mind – please take a moment to nominate me for the WEGO Health Activist Awards right here. Thank you!
Marvelling: At the ripple effect in action. You have to see it to believe it.
Smelling: Master Horus. Stay with me now, this isn’t weird at all. The little Tickeroo went to the groomers yesterday and whatever products they use to wash him with, OMG, he smells divine!
Following: Master Horus on Instagram. The little Tickeroo has more followers than his Grandma which she isn’t too impressed about. If you want attitude and antics of the fur-baby variety, follow Master Horus @my_life_as_horus_bear.
Admiring: The amazing insights that are coming out of the Chronic Illness Blogger Interview Series. You can catch the latest with Lisa Cox right here.
Sorting: Does thinking about what I need to sort – e.g. the leaning tower of papers on my desk – count, or does there need to be actual action? Hmmmm, now that’s something to ponder over…
Pondering: See response above.
Opening: Jars are a struggle for me. So naturally I wrote all about my jar struggle right here.
Snacking: On homemade ginger snap cookies. I left them in the oven for one minute too long so they are a little charcoal around the edges but that won’t stop me from demolishing them.
Giggling: At myself. Gosh I make myself laugh!
And that’s a wrap!
